Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 8, 2026
Privacy Radius is a California-focused community-awareness app for reported roadside surveillance-camera locations. It does not provide police-avoidance routing, live police tracking, or instructions for disabling surveillance equipment.
Information the app uses
Foreground location. When you request nearby reports, the app uses your device location while the app is open and sends the latitude and longitude to the Privacy Radius API for that lookup. The nearby lookup is not saved as a user-location record. The app does not request background location.
Community report data. If you submit a report, the camera location you place, camera details, and optional notes are sent to the API. Report coordinates and submitted report details are retained for moderation and community-service operation.
Optional photos. You may attach a photo selected through Android's system picker. The app reads the selected content URI, creates a bounded sanitized JPEG in private app storage, and uploads the optional image for moderator review. The server validates and re-encodes the image, strips EXIF/GPS metadata, and stores it outside the public web root. Photos are not published as public image files.
Anonymous installation identifier. The app creates a random installation UUID and sends it with API requests to support anonymous rate limiting, duplicate-report prevention, and ownership checks. The service stores only an HMAC-SHA256 digest of that identifier, not the raw UUID. It is not an advertising ID.
What we do not collect
Privacy Radius has no user accounts and does not request names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, advertising identifiers, camera access, microphone access, or broad photo-library permissions. It has no ads, analytics, crash-reporting SDK, or tracking SDK, and does not sell personal data.
Sharing and access
Submitted reports and optional photos are processed by the Privacy Radius service and its hosting provider to operate the service. Pending reports and photos are available only to authenticated moderators for review. Public map responses contain approved camera information, not private uploaded photo bytes or raw installation identifiers. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
Retention and deletion
Reports and moderation records are retained while needed to operate, moderate, audit, and improve the community service. Private photos are retained with their associated pending report and are removed when the associated record is removed under service operations. Because there are no user accounts, deletion requests must identify the relevant report without sending passwords or secrets. Use the support page to request review of a report or associated photo.
Contact
Support and privacy requests are handled through the Privacy Radius support page.
